About The Event

Puerto Rican Nocturne is the passion project of award winning novelist (Independent Book Award 2017), publisher, and actor Jon Marcantoni, who has joined forces with IDEA Stages, Sasquatch Productions, Control Group Productions, and The Bug Theatre to bring this powerful historical drama to the stage. This eclectic team is dedicated to making truly inclusive theater for Colorado's increasingly diverse and oftentimes ignored communities.  This play is written, directed, designed, and acted by BIPOC or other traditionally marginalized folks.

Puerto Rican Nocturne is a chronicle of the Cerro Maravilla murders, in which a group of police officers, led by undercover agent Alejandro “Gonzo” Gonzalez Malavé assassinated two Puerto Rican independence activists who had planned to bomb radio towers at the aforementioned mountain in protest of the US occupation of Puerto Rico. The play is told from the alternating perspectives of Gonzo and Adria, the mother of the youngest victim, Enrique “Quique” Soto.

Doors at 7:00pm, show at 7:30pm.
