An Update from The Bug Theatre
Updated: May 6
In the wake of so many live venues struggling, and with several recently closing, many of you have asked how The Bug is doing. First, thanks for asking. We’re hanging in there. By sustaining ourselves on a successful past few years, grants from the SCFD and CCI, as well as the current generosity of our donors and those supporters who participated in our curbside concession sales events this summer, we’re feeling confident that we're going to make it. Alex and the Board of Directors can’t thank you enough. You may have noticed we’ve been keeping a low profile this summer. Frankly, it was important to us that we not inadvertently dilute the voices that needed to be heard across the nation. And still desperately do.
However, we're excited to say we haven’t just been sitting on our hands. We’ve been improving on our facility and our commitment to staying afloat. Our building has been going through some planned renovations, and soon we'll be getting a new roof, a much needed HVAC system, and an electrical upgrade. We've also taken the opportunity to work on improving our greenroom, restrooms, box office, and concessions area. This is out of love for our audiences, our renters, and our performers, and we want more than anything to see you again when our doors reopen. We will be operating under the guidelines of science and respect for our neighbors, requiring masks and instituting contact tracing. Science is stronger than political leanings.
All this still underscores that we need to keep the donations coming. If you’re able, there are many ways you can help. Whether by donating directly or each time you make an Amazon purchase, by purchasing a gift card or t-shirt, or if you're interested in joining the Board of Directors, please contact us. We have room for everyone.
Thank you again for all your support. We can't wait to see you again real soon.
