We closed our doors one year ago today... but we'll see each other again soon...

One year ago today we announced that we had made the decision to temporarily close our doors in response to the developing COVID-19 pandemic. When we made this announcement we had no idea what the future would hold. We didn't know that our entire state would shut down just days after. Like so many other arts and culture venues, we didn't know that we would find ourselves still closed a full year later. The last year has been challenging for so many of us, with so much lost to this devastating illness, and this is an anniversary we never could have imagined would ever come. We're at a loss as to how to properly acknowledge it.

We also didn't know if we would make it... but thanks to the generous support of all of you, and the incredible grantmakers that have provided many of us with much needed fiscal support, we're still here. And while nothing is certain, we are more confident then ever that thanks to all of you, we will be back. You helped save us, and for that we are eternally grateful.

We've used this time to make many changes to our space to ensure it as safe as possible for our artists, our patrons, and our staff, and are actively working on a plan to reopen, which will be announced soon. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and we will all be able to gather together once again. Until then, we hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy, and that you're staying warm as we go into this cold, snowy weekend.

Be well. We can't wait to welcome you through our doors again real soon.

With Love,

Your Friends at The Bug Theatre

This reflection on closing doors really resonated with me, especially on this anniversary. It's so true how different people experience such transitions; for some, it's a chance for reinvention, while for others, it brings immense uncertainty. The depth of the research you've presented here is truly evident, providing such a solid foundation for your observations https://www.abc.net.au/news/ This piece brought back so many memories of my own experiences with what felt like insurmountable barriers. It’s impressive how accurately your analysis captures the real-world impact of these situations. It makes me wonder how one might articulate the inherent, albeit sometimes hidden, value of these closed doors to those who only see the negative. I'm definitely saving this to revisit; it offers a…

This post really resonated with me, especially the idea of knowing when you've explored enough of those metaphorical closed doors. It's like a subtle instinct, isn't it? For me, this perspective just clicked on so many levels. I remember when the concept of 'closed doors' first really caught my attention a few years back, and I've been grappling with how to navigate them ever since https://aana.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/AANA_Wagering_Code_V2.pdf This aligns perfectly with everything I've learned through my own experiences; it’s not always about brute force, but about discerning when to push and when to simply acknowledge a path is not meant to be. What's also worth noting is how context switching can significantly affect the outcomes when dealing with these situations. Sometimes,…

This post really resonated with me, and it's clear how much passion and effort you poured into those closed doors. The transparency about the journey is incredibly valuable. I've been navigating my own set of closed doors recently, and seeing your reflections makes me feel less alone in the process. It would be fascinating to hear about a failure analysis for some of those attempts; understanding what didn't work can be just as insightful as knowing what did https://iabaustralia.com.au/ I wholeheartedly agree this should be essential reading for anyone facing similar challenges. Your genuine care for the subject matter shines through every word, and I can tell this is more than just a blog post; it feels like a wellspring…
